There we go. I/we made it.
I finally created the website that goes with my work as a composer, musician and producer. This is my first post and I’m pretty sure there will be more in the very short term.
Today, we have officially finished the final mixes of the 8 tracks of my album with Tommy Hirigoyen. What a journey!
Guess what, if you think it is hard to have a good sound on stage, making a good mix is about a thousand -a million? -times harder! Add an EQ on the overhead mics and all of a sudden the singer’s voice is distorted.
Of course, when you do the math, it is pretty obvious. Frequencies add up. So when you have, literally, 65+ tracks per title, 12+ mix busses per title, about 5 effects per track, each effect with roughly 15+ buttons, this gives a total of roughly 46,000 parameters to tweak and over 2 billion correlations that can mess up your mix at any point in time.
Wow.
The beauty of the above is that it teaches you humility when speaking with your sound engineer. These guys are artists, and trust me, you should trust them.
We’re done on Phase 1. Congrats Tommy. Let’s celebrate!
